WHO WE ARE

OUR STORY

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey's devastation in August 2017, my family and I felt a strong calling to return to our home in Galveston County, Texas. Our hearts were burdened with a desire to provide healing, help, and hope to the people of Greater Houston. We rolled up our sleeves and joined recovery efforts to support our community in their time of need.

As we worked alongside our neighbors, God began to reveal a vision of establishing a network of faith communities along the I-45 corridor. This vision focused on fostering unity and transformation through an incarnational approach to ministry, truly embodying the love of Jesus Christ in our communities.

Watch Pastor Jervie give thanks to God, the city of Texas City, and all they have partnered with in the opening of Resonate Church.

In collaboration with New Life Church (La Plata, MD), Sent Church (Plano, TX), and The Mountain Plains District of the Wesleyan Church, the foundation for Resonate Church was laid. As believers in different zip codes joined together in prayer for the Houston area, we witnessed the emergence of Resonate Church – a testament to God's provision and the power of unity.

Since then, Resonate Church has partnered with local and national organizations to rebuild homes, provide job opportunities, and revitalize communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. The storm left a staggering impact on our region, causing an estimated $125 billion in damage, damaging over 203,000 homes, and destroying 12,700. Compounding these challenges, 80 percent of the affected households lacked flood insurance to help mitigate their financial losses.

Despite the immense obstacles faced by the Greater Houston community, Resonate Church remains unwavering in its commitment to sharing the hope of Jesus Christ. Drawing strength from Jeremiah 17:7, which declares, "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD," our congregation embodies resilience, determination, and compassion.

As a church devoted to community service, restoration of healthy families, and gospel transformation, Resonate Church intentionally welcomes the Holy Spirit into every aspect of our ministry. Through interconnected initiatives and collaborations with other churches, local government, businesses and nonprofits, we continue to foster spiritual growth, nurture deep relationships, and promote tangible change in the lives of communities in Greater Houston - one heart at a time..
